Hide and Seek

You’ve found the next person in your life to meet you at that place within

I find you in that place where you’re both lost and found, so deep inside you can barely hear the sounds coming in from the world. You more feel than hear them because from here you can’t help but notice that sensation and emotion don’t just meet, they are one, not identical but part of the same fabric.

This is your safe space and prison, for you were given birth in a culture that can’t relate to you from this placeless place, so for all the pleasure and awareness it opens, who do you have to share it with and in doing so validate that it is even real?

You try to find words to communicate to those who don’t know but this not only fails to bridge the chasm, it alienates you from yourself by making you confused about something as fundamental as your basic way of experiencing reality, because how can you be inside of yourself, and for that matter how can you be alienated from yourself if you and your alienated self are the same?

It’s a source of peace and strength but not nearly enough to save you by itself, which might be your self, or what your selfhood is made from, but there I go, into the endless but not fruitless dance of trying to capture with words what in silence we know to be. I find you at the place where I am what I am, not what I can think or see.

So why don’t we rest here for a while, while the rest of the world fails to comprehend our state-perspective, or so it seems. Why don’t we enjoy not knowing because we’re too unbusy just being? And why don’t we just smile quietly in shared recognition of what we can barely recognise in ourselves because it’s so massive yet so subtle? Then we might experience some sort of freedom, and exhale and sigh a sweet sigh.
