I told you not to go to the forest
but you threw yourself into the lion’s den
giving your roots food to grow
it was not a matter of if, but when
for the truth stands firm: the ocean speaks
and her call’s force upon you is strong
but if you use water to respire, you expire
so with the undulating Mama you do not belong
for only so long can you stay away from home
before you lose your self or your will to be lost
so the forest did not need even to call your name
like lovers matched celestially, your paths were crossed
you found a pillow for the crown of your longing
on the bodacious bump of a familiar hill
though you had not trodden there once before
it was an overdue reunion still
you never said I didn’t warn you, I give you that
but that doesn’t pull you up out of the pickle
of remembering how shallow is your root
yes, let the sorrow bring forth a trickle
which grows to a stream, brook then river
which pours divinely from the mouth of your eyes
if you were then to move back to the ocean
your motion might be somewhat more wise
